On 23rd September 2025, Dynovia Solutions LLP, in collaboration with Brownlee Cale (UK) and supported by the British High Commission of India, hosted a focused webinar on Enhancing Mine Safety. The event brought together mining professionals, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the future of safety, competence, and responsible mining in India.

The session began with a warm opening address by Sanjay Gupta, Partner at Dynovia Solutions LLP.

This was followed by remarks from Anup Narayanan, Senior Trade Adviser – Agriculture, AgriTech, Responsible Mining, Maritime, Engineering & Manufacturing Sector, Department for Business and Trade, British Deputy High Commission, Kolkata, who highlighted the significance of the Brownlee Cale–Dynovia collaboration. He emphasized how the partnership brings world-class UK mining expertise to India, strengthening responsible mining practices and aligning Indian operations with international safety and ESG standards.

The keynote session was delivered by Kevin Sabin, MD, Brownlee Cale (UK), along with Brad MacDonald, who presented insights from their global experience. Their presentation emphasized:

  • The importance of competence beyond recruitment – not just having manpower, but developing skilled and safety-conscious mining professionals.
  • The Competency Management System (CMS) roadmap, a structured approach that includes training, psychometric evaluations, technical assessments, and continuous workplace audits.
  • Alignment with Regulation 11 of the Mines Regulations and National Occupational Standards (NOS) to ensure supervisors, engineers, and contractors are trained in leadership, hazard control, and emergency preparedness.
  • How collaboration with Dynovia Solutions in India can bridge global frameworks with local mining needs.

An engaging interactive Q&A session followed, moderated by Rajkumar Mitra, Partner, Dynovia Solutions LLP, where participants raised practical questions on implementing CMS in Indian operations. Kevin shared his perspectives on tailoring global models to suit the realities of Indian mines, particularly those relying heavily on contractors and outsourced labour.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Sanjay Gupta, reinforcing the commitment to continued collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
